Previously Painted Plaster/Artex to Ceilings, Walls, Cornices and Covings: Brush free any loose or flaking particles together with any mould growth or foreign bodies. Fill cracks and other minor indentations and bring forward to meet with adjoining contours. Treat areas where any organic growth is evident with fungicide solution and any chalking surfaces with Dulux Primer Sealer. Treat any stains, grease or smoked areas with Styptic Sealer. Apply one or two coats (as specificed) of Dulux Vinyl Matt or Silk Emulsion paint or Eggshell or other oil based paints as applicable.
Previously papered Ceilings and Walls: Strip existing coverings as required and dispose of same. Prepare plaster surface beneath by filling cracks and other indentations and rub down to a smooth surface. Hang new coverings (i.e. Lining paper, Anaglypta, Patterned Vinyls, Hessians, or Flocks) as required using the appropriate paste or adhesive for same. Apply two coats of Dulux Vinyl Matt or Silk Emulsion over Anaglypta papers where applicable or as required.
Previously Painted Woodwork: Rub down and prime any new or bare timbers with appropriate wood primer and treat any knots with X.T.P. Knotting. Stop-In and rub down to a smooth surface. Cleaning off between coats, apply one to two undercoats and one to two gloss coats of Dulux or other quality paint as specified.
Previously Painted Metalwork: Rub down, removing any rust or corrosion and prime such areas with correct primer (i.e. Phosphate, Zinc Chromate or Calcium Plumbate Primer) in accordance to type of metal being painted. Rub down to a smooth surface and apply one or two undercoats and one or two gloss coats of Dulux or other quality paint as specified.
Previously Varnised or Treated Woodwork: Rub down or strip surface as necessary. Treat stained areas accordingly and apply two to three coats of Polyurethane Varnish or one Woodstain Preseravtive Topseal or Sadolins Base and Top seal as applicable to each item.

Putties: When preparing woodwork or metalwork, rake out all loose putties from glazing bars and replace with Vallance linseed oil putty or Vallance metal casement putty, as appropriate.
Previously Painted Metalwork: Rub down, de-scale as necessary, removing any areas of rust or corrosion and prime such areas with phosphate primer/rust inhibitor (M.P.280) or similar, according to type of metal being painted. Rub down to a smooth surface and apply one or two undercoats and one or two gloss coats of quality paint (as specified).
Previously Painted Concrete, Rendering, Stone or Other Masonry Surfaces: Brush free all loose or flaking particles, together with any mould growth or foreign bodies. Fill cracks and other minor indentations and bring forward to meet with adjoining contours. Treat areas where any organic growth is evident with Blue Circle Fungicide solution and all chalking surfaces with Blue Circle stablizing sealer. Apply one or two coats (as specified) of quality masonry paint to complete surface. Blue Circle Sandtex, Berger Weather-Coat or Dulux Weathershield are masonry paints that have a life expectancy in excess of ten years and we would recommend any one of these.
Previously Varnished or Treated Woodwork: Rub down or strip surface if necessary. Treat stained areas accordingly and apply two to three coats of quality marine varnish or linseed oil, or Sadolins as applicable to each item.
Previously Bituminous Painted Surfaces: (i.e. fire escapes, asbestos material and vent pipes) are occasionally treated in this way. Clean down and apply one/two coats of Solignum Norusto bituminous paint, as required.
Previously Treated Rainwater Goods: (i.e. defective cast-gutters) Clear out all gutters and gulleys and seal joints. Paint internal surfaces with Solignum Norusto bituminous paint. P.V.C. gutters would need washing only.
